Municipal Election Spotlight: Lucas Banack

Municipal Election Spotlight: Lucas Banack

My name is Lucas Banack and I am running for one of eight seats on Camrose City Council.  Currently I am re-reading For Whom the Bell Tolls from Ernest Hemingway and as for my TV watching habits lately, I have been watching a lot of Baseball as we head towards the postseason.

I have long held an interest in municipal, provincial, federal and international politics and I feel that municipal politics is where, as an individual, you can help the most when it comes to the political sphere.  I have seen what our previous city councillors and mayors have accomplished for this city and hope to continue the forward progression of this beautiful community.  I consider it a great honour to be able to represent the city of Camrose on a municipal level.

I think the Camrose Public Library is a great location not just for those curious about the literary arts but for those with that spark of imagination, the need for computer resources and an interest in furthering their education.  It provides great resources to the community with the book bike, the story walks around Mirror Lake and so much more.  I recall as a young child my mom making sure we knew how important it was to have a library card.  We would, especially in the summer, go to the library and take out a few books for the week and I remember getting lost in the imagination of choose your own adventure books and as I grew older the classics from John Steinbeck and J.D Salinger.

I would like to see the city work hand in hand with the Camrose Public Library in expanding its reach as well as helping with resources to make the library an even bigger success!  My vision for Camrose is to keep improving on what has already been established, expanding our reach in showing what an amazing city this is (including the Camrose Public Library) for families and business as well as helping the community grow in a sustainable way.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me a little better and if you have any questions, you can reach out to me via Facebook or email me at banacklucas@gmail.com.  On October 18th, remember; Don't Panic, Vote Banack.
