Municipal Election Spotlight: Greg Sharp

My name is Greg Sharp and I am running for City of Camrose Council.
I am running for office as I felt it was time to give back to the community that has given me so much. I was born and raised in Camrose and love this city so much. I have left and returned twice because I couldn't find anywhere else that felt like home as Camrose does!
My favorite Camrose library memory is during my school years, I used to walk to the library after school and read Hardy Boys novels until my mother was finished work so I didn't have to walk all the way home!! It was always a comfortable environment and there used to be bean bag chairs to sit in. Many hours spent in those chairs!!
Currently, I am reading Finding Murphy. It is a biography of how Joe Murphy went from winning a Stanley Cup with the Edmonton Oilers to being homeless and living in the bush. As for watching, I can always be found refreshing my fishing skills by watching and learning from some of the best on youtube.
I am a strong believer that every community needs a library or similar program. Through the many services and programs that the library provides, for all ages of residents, from children reading programs to gathering places for our seniors to meet and greet to discuss a variety of topics. If elected to the city council, I will do my best to make sure that funding remains at the same or increased levels if needed, for the residents of Camrose to use for the coming years.
Camrose is a phenomenal city compared to some other communities with the same population levels. It is important that we maintain or increase the services and programs that our city provides its residents. However, we need to make sure that we are not damaging our future by spending too much at once. I plan to bring a common-sense business approach to the council in the hopes that we can continue the work done by previous councils in the past.
