What position are you running for?

  • Camrose City Council

Why did you want to run for office?

  • I have a passion for this city. Having grown up, live, worked, and played here my entire life, being the third generation in Camrose and area. I have an opportunity to give back to the city. With the experience I have gained in private industry working as an automotive mechanic and later as service manager is very valuable. Then moving to the public side as Deputy Fire Chief dealing with Camrose council and administration, with the public completing fire inspections, fire investigations, and the firefighters more experience was gained.
  • After moving to the provincial government and Office of the Fire Commissioner there were many meetings, presentations to councils/municipal districts and administrations in the province. I was involved with wildfires and floods that occurred in Alberta between 2010 and 2020. Either being at the emergency site or working at the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre in Edmonton. During these emergencies you were dealing with local council, administrations, government ministries and the many agencies involved with the incidents. Dealing with council’s and administrations is not new to me.
  • This position requires a large time commitment, I am willing to provide that commitment to the citizens of Camrose.

Tell us your favorite library story:

  • Over year ago, I started back at the library, used the Bookmatch & Recommendations Program. They supplied a list of recommended books, have been using that list. This is great way to get books.

What are you reading or watching right now?

  • How Government Really Works

What do you think the Camrose public library brings to the community and how can you support us better?

  • The library gives the public opportunity use computers and access the internet, where many of us may take this for granted. Library provides books/material to those that are confined to their home and not able to access the library, they provide a delivery service. They assist those who are re-entering the workforce, helping with resumes, submitting job applications on-line. The library is a vital part of our community and is safe meeting place for those in our community.

What is your vision for the City of Camrose?

  • Efficient and effective use of your tax dollars. Ensure the core infrastructure of our community meets our current and future needs. I feel the library is part of our infrastructure. Enhance growth by building on and diversifying the local economy in the areas of agri-foods, education, and information technology.
